Pride is also noted for being very cruel, as shown by relentlessly devouring his own partner, Gluttony, in order to regain strength in his fight against Edward and company.Ĭuriously, he is courteous with all his interlocutors, politely calling them "sir / madam / miss" before attacking his enemies. He seems completely surrendered to Father's plans even when he knows that he is only being manipulated, which he does not care completely, however, when he loses a battle, he shows a frankly unbalanced attitude, looking surprised and irritated at the idea of being overcome, being able to sacrifice the reason for his existence when trying to take over the body of another living being like Edward making it clear that he is a being whose pathos is evident when he is in complete distress. True to the sin he embodies, Pride is extremely arrogant and arrogant in battle, quickly resorting to petty taunts and insults against opponents he encounters as inferior beings. In his true state, his personality seems very similar to Father's He believes that all human beings are inferior to him and that they are not even worthy of his time or attention, although, unlike Father, who treats them with a bored and listless attitude, Pride treats them like toys or slaves. However, all of this fades when his identity as Homunculus Pride is revealed. On one occasion he comments on his desire to become an alchemist to protect the country side by side with his "father". He also appears to be prone to hero worship, and is seen to be fanatically interested in the Elric brothers, reacting with dizzying excitement upon meeting them.

When first introduced under the false identity of Selim Bradley, Pride acts as standard to a child his age, displaying a passive and innocent attitude just like any other child, showing great admiration and respect for his "father. He has been seen dressing more casually, such as in his first encounter with Riza Hawkeye, where he is presented in a lilac shirt and an unbuttoned white jacket.īefore his identity as Homunculus Pride was discovered, he wore a blue suit jacket, and underneath it a white shirt and brown tie. His usual clothing consists of a white long-sleeved button-down shirt and on top of this a greenish-colored vest, he wears gray trousers above the knees, high white socks and completely black shoes.
His way of dressing clearly recalls his social position, since he adopts the false identity of the Führer's son, Selim. Their eyes are generally black but tend to harbor a purple hue when they are about to fight. In physical appearance, Pride has the appearance of a boy of approximately six years of age with short black hair, this is somewhat ironic, considering that he is the oldest Homunculus.
